Our chief executive, Tavish Scott, has today written to the convener of the Scottish Parliament's Rural Affairs and Islands Committee. The letter highlights an improvement in Scottish salmon survival in 2024 – up ten percentage points representing a 36 per cent reduction in mortality, last year’s survival was on a par with figures last recorded in 2020.
This improvement in survival follows a near £1billion investment in a range of measures to improve fish health and welfare since 2018.
The farm-raised Scottish salmon sector is the only animal production sector to publish detailed survival statistics.
